LANXESS has been very successful in establishing and exploiting development partnerships in China, one of its most important markets.

Qingdao

In 2008, LANXESS opened a center for rubber research in Qingdao that cooperates with the National Key Laboratory for Rubber and Plastics of the Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST).

Located next to QUST, the LANXESS center hosts Ph.D. students and professors from QUST. The Ph.D. students have the opportunity to do research work on an innovative rubber product design and development. This way, the students gain valuable experience at one of the world’s largest synthetic rubber manufacturers and a good knowledge of the company’s products.

Beijing

In 2007, LANXESS entered into an agreement with the Beijing Research & Design Institute of Rubber Industry, China’s national testing center for tires. The institute has advanced equipment and expertise in tire and rubber research, their engineering design as well as testing. Among other things, this highly acclaimed institute is helping LANXESS tap into the fastest-growing tire market in the world. It is also supporting LANXESS customers of high-performance polybutadiene rubber and styrene butadiene rubber.
