LANXESS Speciality Chemicals Co.,Ltd. is located in Jinshan’s Industrial Park, 70 kilometres southeast of Shanghai's city centre.
With the take-over of the iron oxide pigment plant in Jinshan in June 2008, LANXESS acquired one of the largest and most state-of-the-art facilities in China for the manufacture of iron oxide yellow pigments. The plant uses particularly environmentally friendly production methods, meeting LANXESS’s strict environment directives.
The facility has a total capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year and supplies LANXESS’s pigment mixing unit in Shanghai with all the raw materials it needs, thereby completely freeing the specialty chemicals company from a dependence on local suppliers. The two units involved will optimally enable LANXESS to meet its customers’ needs locally, keeping supply channels short and rapid.
As the market leader in the industry with its Bayferrox® portfolio of iron oxide pigment products, LANXESS Inorganic Pigments (IPG) business unit enjoys a high growth rate in the Chinese and Asian market, with an average increase of more than 15% on a turnover basis. In 2007, the LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business unit was awarded as “TOP10 Pigments Supplier” for the consecutive year by HC group (www. hc360.com), a leading B2B electronic commerce service provider in China.
