Sustainable products and systems for the leather industry

LANXESS to sell its chrome chemicals business to Brother Enterprises

Shanghai – August 14, 2019 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is selling its chrome chemicals business to Brother Enterprises, a Chinese leather chemicals producer. On August 12, 2019, Both companies signed a respective agreement. The transaction is still subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities. LANXESS expects to complete the planned transaction by the end of 2019.



LANXESS remains on track after a stable second quarter

Shanghai – August 6, 2019 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is on track despite the weaker economy and geopolitical uncertainties and can look back on a stable second quarter. EBITDA pre exceptionals declined only slightly by 1.4 percent to EUR 286 million, nearly reaching the figure of the strong prior-year quarter of EUR 290 million.



Durable star wheels for waste sorting

Shanghai – July 26, 2019 – LANXESS’s Urethane Systems business unit has developed an alternative to synthetic rubber for producing star wheels for material separation plants and material transport. It is based on polyurethane (PU) elastomers produced from Adiprene Low Free (LF) prepolymers. The PU star wheels are not only characterized by a longer service life and excellent mechanical performance, but are also resistant to heat and moisture. In addition to the material, the constructive design of the star wheels also comes from LANXESS. It was developed based on product requirements, technical application and optimization algorithms using the CAD software Solidworks. This design is licensed. “We have already signed contracts with selected processors in North America to ensure that end customers of star wheels benefit from the highest level of quality and performance,” says Michael Timm, global head of Marketing and Development at Urethane Systems.



Lightweight rear seat shell in composite design

Shanghai – July 24 , 2019 – The Tepex continuous-fiber-reinforced composites from specialty chemicals company LANXESS are becoming established in large-scale production of various structural components for lightweight automotive design. One current example of this is the Audi A8. This sedan car is also offered with two electrically adjustable individual rear seats, the shells of which have been developed by Faurecia Automotive Seating and are manufactured using the hybrid molding process. The polyamide-6-based Tepex dynalite 102 RG600(2)/47% is used for this purpose. The short-glass-fiber-reinforced Durethan BKV30H2.0 polyamide 6, also from LANXESS, is used as an over-molded material.



LANXESS addresses the topics of new mobility, urbanization and digitalization at “K 2019”

Shanghai – July 11, 2019 – LANXESS will be presenting a broad portfolio at the international trade fair for plastics and rubber K 2019. LANXESS Employees Awarded Labor Medals for Their Practice in Safety

New test bench for high-performance additives

Shanghai – June 10, 2019 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has taken a new test bench for additivated hydraulic fluids into operation at its Mannheim site. It is being used to test the additive package Additin RC 9200 N, as well as other fluids. These high-performance additives are used to formulate hydraulic fluids that are utilized in large commercial vehicles such as excavators, combine harvesters, or construction vehicles.

New tests prove LANXESS Virkon S and Virkon LSP highly effective against ASF

Shanghai – May 20, 2019 – With African Swine Fever (ASF) continuing its rapid spread across Europe, China and Southeast Asia, and with no vaccine or other medical treatment currently available, specialty chemicals company LANXESS recently submitted their premium livestock veterinary disinfectants, Virkon S and Virkon LSP, for independent evaluation against the virus. CISA is the European Union reference laboratory for ASF efficacy testing since 2002.



LANXESS: Stable business development in the first quarter of 2019 despite economic downturn

Shanghai – May 15, 2019 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has made a solid start to the new fiscal year despite the weakening economy. In the first quarter of 2019, EBITDA pre exceptionals rose by 1.9 percent to EUR 275 million compared with EUR 270 million in the strong previous-year quarter. The main reasons for this positive development were higher selling prices and advantageous exchange-rate effects, particularly from the U.S. dollar. The EBITDA margin pre exceptionals improved from 14.9 percent in the previous year to 15.1 percent.



LANXESS to deploy artificial intelligence in product development

By deploying artificial intelligence (AI), the specialty chemicals company is looking to drastically cut the amount of time it takes to develop new materials.
