LANXESS at Chinaplas 2012 April 18- 21, Booth Number: N1E01

Green mobility in plastics industry energized by LANXESS

Shanghai, March 2, 2012 - German specialty chemicals company LANXESS will display its latest technologies and environmental friendly products under the theme of green mobility at Chinaplas which will take place this year from April 18 to 21 in Shanghai.

At the tradeshow, LANXESS will highlight its engineering plastics by showcasing a full range of Durethan® polyamides and Pocan® polybutylene terephthalates (PBT). Widely recognized as intelligent system solutions used to manufacture technically demanding components, Durethan® and Pocan® meet and exceed the highest quality standards on load resistance, functional reliability, and long-term performance. They are predominantly used in the automotive, electrical/electronics, construction and consumer sectors.

LANXESS will also feature its line of tailor-made inorganic pigments for plastics coloring from its industry leading Bayferrox® and Colortherm® pigment ranges. The ease of dispersion, high thermal stability, excellent weather stability and superior lightfastness make them the optimal choice for environmentally friendly plastics coloring. Among the exhibits, there will be wood plastic tiles and artificial turf colored by Bayferrox® and Colortherm® iron oxide pigments. A decisive advantage lies with their tight tolerances in color shade and tinting strength. This makes color reproduction when formulating masterbatches or paints and coatings faster, easier and more reliable; shading work is reduced to a minimum. In addition, LANXESS inorganic pigments are characterized by an unmatched dispersibility, achieved through micronization, a very intensive form of grinding that results in a significant reduction in the proportion of pigment aggregates in the product.

Further, a comprehensive range of innovative organic dyes, plasticizer and flame retardants for wide applications including toys, food packaging and construction will be displayed at the trade show.   For plastics coloration, Macrolex dyes provide a safe and reliable option for consumer products which meet strict FDA requirements.  LANXESS plasticizer Mesamoll, with faster gelling characteristics than standard plasticizers and its ability to be processed at lower temperatures, provides an ideal solution for toy manufacturers and other key customers in the plastics processing industry.   Marketed under the brand names Levagard, Disflamoll, and Bayfomox, these flame retardants offer significant advantages even in demanding applications, such as low-fogging flexible foams for the automotive industry, and meeting the various fire safety standards.

LANXESS’ subsidiary Rhein Chemie will showcase its new product line BioAdimide™. The highly innovative additive enables the production of renewable, bio-based polymers for durable applications with a lower environmental impact. BioAdimide™ additives are specially suited to improve the hydrolysis resistance of bio-based polyester, specifically polylactide (PLA), and to expand its range of applications.

The plastics industry in China has maintained high-speed growth in the past decade.  It is driven by an increasing disposable income and an increasing standard of living in China.

According to Martin Kraemer, CEO of LANXESS Greater China,
“China will continue to be a cornerstone of our fast-growing Asian business.  Our technology-driven products, which enable green mobility, will play a major part in achieving our target of sales in excess of EUR 1 billion here in 2012. ”

LANXESS is dedicating the year of the dragon to the tackling of one of the most significant global challenges by declaring it “the Year of Green Mobility”. As a part of the theme year, LANXESS will initiate a series of events and take part in trade fairs and conferences, such as Chinaplas as well as a Mobility Day later in the year, which will provide information to all interest groups, ranging from customers and officials to media and employees.
