LANXESS’ Saltigo eyes China Market

LANXESS at the 28th Academic Conference and Products Exhibition of Chinese Insecticides and Equipment

Shanghai– LANXESS business unit Saltigo will present its proven active ingredient Saltidin, used in insect repellents, to the Chinese market at the upcoming Academic Conference and Products Exhibition of Chinese Insecticides and Equipment in Xi’an.

“The Asia market and China in particular is becoming increasingly important for LANXESS,” said Kim Ming Lee, Sales Director LANXESS Saltigo China. “The exhibition offers us an excellent opportunity to introduce our highly innovative Saltidin to China, a country we see of huge market potentiality.”

The insect repellent plays an important role in the successful control of dangerous diseases such as malaria, yellow fever and Dengue fever, which are transmitted by mosquitoes, flies, and other insects. It does not poison insects; it repels them by acting effectively on their sense of smell in a way which does not bother users. Saltidin is used in many insect-repellant products. They are applied to the skin and slowly evaporate, releasing a scent that keeps insects away. For its outstanding properties, Saltidin is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as first-line agent for protection against malaria.

It combines highly effective repellant features with optimal skin compatibility. For example, formulations containing Saltidin do not leave a sticky film on the skin once they have been rubbed in, explained Lee. “It does not have an unpleasant smell and is extremely gentle to the skin. Moreover, it is safer for plastics coatings and sealing compounds than other products, which makes it ideal for use in cosmetic products for the whole family.”

Due to the rising awareness for safety and environment protection, China is witnessing a growing demand for high-end insecticides which does not contain potential harm to health or environmentally damaging. “With our premium product Saltidin, we are well positioned to serve this growing market,” added Lee.
