LANXESS Wuxi awarded the title of Safe Enterprise 2011

Shanghai, January 9, 2012 - LANXESS Wuxi site has recently been awarded the title of Wuxi Safe Enterprise for 2011.The honorary title awarded by the local authority is in recognition of the company’s outstanding achievements in improving the overall safety, and its efforts in organizing personnel training and optimizing working process to minimize the risks of work injury.

“It is a great honor to be awarded this title,” said Dr. Hu Dongqi, General Manager of LANXESS Wuxi site. “The Wuxi plant serves as an important manufacturing and technology location for LANXESS in China and the Asia Pacific. Safety has always been our top priority. We lay great emphasis on the safety improvement, accident prevention and enhancing of occupational health and safety standards.”

Eight related government sectors including Wuxi Public Security Bureau, Wuxi Administration of Work Safety and Wuxi Industrial and Commercial Bureau participated in the joint audit and appraisal.

“As a leading player in the specialty chemicals’ sector, we take the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance as a key corporate goal,” said Martin Kraemer, CEO of LANXESS Greater China. “All our production in China follows the same rigid safety standards adopted by LANXESS operations worldwide.”

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited the site in 2007, and assured LANXESS’ achievements in personnel training, risk analysis and the ongoing decrease in both power consumption and waste discharge. In 2010, LANXESS Wuxi was awarded as “Safe Production and Integrity enterprise” and “Outstanding companies nationwide in Implementing Social Responsibility” by the authorities.
