Silica as filler in rubber compounds has become more and more important in rubber compounding especially in tyre application to reduce rolling resistance, but processing of silica compounds is problematic due to the higher compound viscosity in comparison to carbon black filled compounds. To reduce the compound viscosity often processing aids are used.
