For the third consecutive year, German specialty chemicals group LANXESS AG, brought one of the world’s finest youth orchestras to China.  Following the highly successful concert series in 2007 and 2008, the “LANXESS young.euro.classic China Festival 2009”, featuring some of the most talented young musicians from China and Germany, performed in Beijing on August 3.

This year, the program of the LANXESS young.euro.classic China Tour combines classical compositions with works written specially by young composers.  Under the leadership of Maestro Tang Muhai, one of China’s most famous conductors, the musicians promise an exceptional performance at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, which locates in 798 Art Center District in Beijing.

“The orchestra is an example of the warm collaboration between China and Germany.  And I am certain that everyone will agree that their music is a beautiful expression of the friendship and harmony between our two countries”, Axel C. Heitmann, Chairman of the Board of Management, talked with the media.

“This young orchestra also represents an essential part of our own culture at LANXESS. We believe that nothing is more important to the success of our enterprise than encouraging and promoting the best young talent. We try to live that philosophy not only in our chemical business – which demands the best and the brightest young scientific minds – but in all of the projects in the arts, education and environmental fields that we support”, Heitmann continued.“LANXESS recognizes that all our futures depend on having well educated, skilled and motivated young people in our society.  That’s why we focus much of our attention on these young musicians.  This year, our Chinese musicians come from Beijing conservatory and Shanghai Conservatory of Music”, said Martin Kraemer, CEO of LANXESS Greater China.  “We feel that our commitment to the arts, and especially to young talent, is an essential part of who we are.  So we feel especially fortunate that we are able to continue our support for this orchestra and again bring these fine musicians to China even in these difficult times.  We go beyond successful business interests and extend our role to be a friend and connoisseur of China and Chinese culture.”

With initial involvement in China in 1882, LANXESS is fully committed to the market and already an integral part of the Chinese economy.  In addition, LANXESS takes social responsibilities seriously and actively seeks opportunities to add value within its business.  Leadership, society services and educational outreach are very important for LANXESS.  By providing various learning opportunities to these young musicians, the company strongly showcases commitment to help the society invest in its future.

About young.euro.classicyoung.euro.classic, established in Berlin back in the year 2000, has become a high-profile international young music festival. The musical focus of the concert program is on contemporary music. A typical young.euro.classic concert includes a symphonic highlight from the 19th or 20th centuries, a representative work from the featured country, and in very many cases either an international or German premiere of a new piece.
