LANXESS narrows full-year guidance range in a challenging market environment

In an economic environment marked by continuing uncertainty, specialty chemicals Group LANXESS has narrowed its guidance range for the full year 2013: EBITDA pre exceptionals is expected to be between EUR 710 million and EUR 760 million, within the previously communicated corridor of EUR 700 million to EUR 800 million.

LANXESS subsidiary Bond-Laminates expands lightweight plastics production in Brilon

Bond-Laminates GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of specialty chemicals company LANXESS, is strengthening its business with innovative Tepex lightweight plastics. The company is expanding production capacities at the Brilon site, Germany, by around 75 percent in the period up to summer 2014. A total of 1,300 square meters is being added to the building complex in Brilon, comprising a new production hall and supplementary storage areas and office space.



LANXESS takes tire performance to the next level

Synthetic rubber pioneer and world largest producer of NdPBR (neodymium polybutadiene) LANXESS has officially launched two new easy processing NdPBR rubber grades to ease the production of for example, fuel-efficient tires. This brings more options for tire development.

LANXESS on track with EPDM project in China

LANXESS is progressing according to plan with the construction of its world-scale EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) plant in Changzhou (Jiangsu Province), China. The German specialty chemicals company is investing EUR 235 million in the plant - the largest investment the company has made in China to date. Some 45 percent of the investment total will be spent by the end of 2013.

Of that, Dr. Werner Breuers is certain. “Chemical materials are the key to making cars lighter and more efficient. That is why our company is working systematically to develop new high-tech thermoplastic systems for lightweight construction and high-performance rubber products for low-rolling-resistance and thus fuel-saving tires,” said Breuers, member of the LANXESS Board of Management in advance of the 65th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Germany.



Innovative biotechnology for soaking and liming

The innovative X-Zyme process launched by the LANXESS specialty chemicals company is a groundbreaking technology for the beamhouse stage of the leather production process. “The use of two microbial enzymes in the soaking and liming noticeably improves the quality of the pelt, reduces the amount of waste and makes the entire process much more efficient,” explains Dr. Marc Hombeck, head of New Business in LANXESS’ Leather business unit. The new, enzyme-based technology was developed in collaboration with Danish biotechnology specialists Novozymes A/S, Bagsværd, who also manufacture the two pure enzymes by means of bacterial fermentation.

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is showcasing its products, processes and systems for efficiently manufacturing leather for a wide range of purposes at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE). This will be held in Shanghai, China, between September 4 and 6, 2013. The trade show presentation will focus on the beamhouse.

LANXESS featured sustainable solutions for a green future at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation China CEO forum which took place on July 13 and 14 in Beijing, China. Saltigo signs agreement with Daiichi Sankyo

German custom manufacturing specialist Saltigo GmbH is continuing the development of its pharmaceutical business portfolio. On July 5, 2013, the wholly owned LANXESS subsidiary signed in Tokyo an agreement with Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. for the provision of contract manufacturing services. These are associated with the preparation for commercialization of one of Daiichi Sankyo’s novel drug pipeline projects. A corresponding signing ceremony took place in Tokyo. Present were Dr. Katsumi Fujimoto, Executive Vice President, Pharmaceutical Technology Division of Daiichi Sankyo, and Wolfgang Schmitz, Managing Director of Saltigo.



LANXESS opens first production facility in Russia

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS celebrated the opening of its first production facility in Russia. In the new plant at the Lipetsk site, LANXESS subsidiary Rhein Chemie manufactures polymer-bound rubber additives for the markets in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), primarily for the automotive and tire industries. A production facility for the bladders used in tire production is to be added in 2016. The overall investment volume in euros amounts to a seven-digit figure and 40 new jobs will be created at the new plant in the medium term.



LANXESS Strengthens Ties with the China Rubber Industry Association

LANXESS has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA) to strengthen existing ties. Both parties agreed to cooperate closely on promoting green tires in China.
