LANXESS streamlines portfolio and production network for rubber chemicals

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is streamlining its plant network and portfolio for its Rubber Chemicals business unit. A central element is the bundling of production processes for vulcanization accelerators, which are used primarily in the tire industry. The North American Bushy Park site is taking over production of the accelerator Vulkacit CZ from the Belgian plant in Kallo. In return, the company is shifting production for the accelerators Vulkacit DZ and Vulkacit NZ from Bushy Park to Kallo. These changes will be implemented by 2014.

LANXESS showcased innovative solutions for the sustainable, resource- and climate-friendly mobility of the future at the 15th Industry Forum in Wolfsburg, Germany. LANXESS increases prices for ion exchanger

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS will increase prices for its Lewatit ion exchange resins by three to five percent as of July 1, 2013. The specific adjustment will depend on resin grade and region. BRITA Supplier Award for LANXESS

In mid-June, specialty chemicals company LANXESS received the Supplier Award in the category “Raw Materials” from BRITA GmbH, one of the leading drinking water optimization companies. The awards, which also included the categories “Components” and “Packaging”, were presented for the first time in 2013.

Lightweight leather made easy

X-Lite is the name of a new process from the LANXESS specialty chemicals company for producing lighter-weight, yet high-quality leather efficiently. “X-Lite enables tanners to turn even relatively thin grain splits into premium leather with a remarkably low weight per unit area, while still meeting thickness specifications. Saving energy with new LE membrane elements

These new products are to be presented for the first time at Aquatech China, which is being held in Shanghai from June 5 to 7, 2013. LANXESS opens Asia’s most modern butyl rubber plant in Singapore

At an official ceremony by around 400 guests, LANXESS inaugurated its new butyl rubber plant on Jurong Island in Singapore on schedule. The specialty chemicals company has invested approximately EUR 400 million in the plant, which will have a capacity of 100,000 metric tons. The plant will create about 160 highly qualified new jobs that will mainly be filled locally. The facility is the most modern of its kind in Asia and will produce premium halobutyl rubber, as well as regular butyl rubber.

LANXESS presents strong fiscal 2012 at the Annual Stockholders' Meeting

Specialty chemicals group LANXESS presented its strong results for fiscal 2012 to some 2,000 attendees at this year's Annual Stockholders' Meeting. Group sales rose by 4 percent to EUR 9,094 million. EBITDA pre exceptionals improved by 7 percent to EUR 1,225 million. Net income rose by 2 percent last year to EUR 514 million.

LANXESS opens first production facility for high-performance bladders in Brazil

LANXESS is focusing on the megatrend of mobility also in Brazil. In Porto Feliz, the specialty chemicals company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Rhein Chemie has opened a new facility for high-performance bladders (curing bladders), which are used in the production of tires. It has an annual capacity of about 170,000 bladders. In 2014, a new facility to manufacture pre-dispersed polymer-bound rubber additives (Rhenogran), with a capacity of 1,800 metric tons per year, will be added. Altogether, LANXESS is investing some EUR 10 million and creating around 60 new jobs.



LANXESS takes action against weak demand

LANXESS posted lower earnings in the first quarter of 2013 as expected due to a weak market environment, particularly in the tire and automotive industries.



LANXESS expands its X-Grade range of finishing products

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has added two new products to its X-Grade range of finishing agents. “Now we have a complete portfolio for all types of leather, all applications and all possible leather defects that have to be concealed,” states Bianca Verstegen, head of Global Product Management Finishing in the Leather business unit. Small and medium-sized hide blemishes such as holes and scratches can be removed sustainably with the innovative X-Grade range. In addition, the microcapsule-based technology gives noticeably more uniform print retention, making the surface structure very natural-looking.



LANXESS opens new headquarters for high-performance rubber in the Netherlands

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS, the world's leading producer of synthetic rubber, has inaugurated the new headquarters of its Keltan Elastomers business unit in Sittard-Geleen in the Netherlands. With immediate effect the company is managing its global business for ethylene-propylene-diene monomer high-performance rubber (EPDM rubber), marketed under the Keltan brand, from the modern complex of buildings on the Chemelot Campus.

LANXESS opens application development center for Asian plastics industry

The specialty chemicals company LANXESS has opened a new Asia-Pacific Application Development Center for its high-tech plastics in the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park. It is run by the High Performance Materials (HPM) business unit and provides comprehensive and high-value services ranging from concept development support, computer-aided design, computer-aided engineering and mold-design assistance to part testing for the automotive industry and other segments.



LANXESS strengthens position as leading leather chemicals provider in China

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has started up on schedule a leather chemicals plant in Changzhou Yangtze Riverside Industrial Park. With a capacity of up to 50,000 metric tons per year, the plant is the largest of its kind in China and will strengthen LANXESS’ position as a sustainable leather chemicals provider in the local market. LANXESS has invested EUR 30 million (USD 40 million) in the facility, which employs about 150 people.
