LANXESS Mobility Day China

German specialty chemicals group LANXESS kicked off “Mobility Day China” in Shanghai today by sharing insights into the latest development in the Green Mobility megatrend. The theme of the event is “sustainable technologies for China’s future”.



LANXESS to build world’s largest EPDM plant in China

LANXESS is building the world’s largest plant for EPDM synthetic rubber in China. The German specialty chemicals company is investing EUR 235 million (roughly RMB 1.87 billion) in the plant in Changzhou (Jiangsu Province). This is the largest investment the company has made in China to date.



Modular finishing system for upholstery leather

The new UP (upholstery) product line from the LANXESS specialty chemicals company is just what many upholstery leather manufacturers have been looking for. Given the wide range of different surface appearances and touches required in this sector, finishes have to be both simple to formulate and easy to handle so that leather manufacturers can satisfy the individual wishes of each customer without the need for complicated procedures.



LANXESS strengthens joint research capability with Qingdao University of Science and Technology

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS further strengthens joint research and development with the Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) by sponsoring a new internal mixer/extruder for the university.



LANXESS confirms 2012 forecast after a strong second quarter

Specialty chemicals group LANXESS continued to grow in the second quarter. EBITDA pre exceptionals rose by 6.8 percent year-on-year to EUR 362 million. Sales advanced by 8.1 percent to EUR 2.42 billion.



Proven premium products and new technologies

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS is showcasing its products and systems for innovative shoe, furniture and automotive leather at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) taking place in Shanghai, China, between September 4 and 6, 2012. The focus is on the new modular finishing system UP for upholstery leather, on a new cationic finishing range and last but not least on the X-Lite technology for producing lightweight leather. Furthermore, LANXESS will be presenting a comprehensive range of proven inorganic and synthetic tanning materials, preservatives, fatliquoring agents, dyestuffs, tanning and finishing products. Jürgen Hackenbroich, head of Marketing for the Asia Pacific region in the Leather business unit, comments: “We see it as our duty to offer tanneries innovative products with which they can produce leather of outstanding quality to meet the requirements of tomorrow – including with respect to profitability and environmental protection.”



LANXESS China Mobility Day

Specialty chemicals group LANXESS is organizing a series of “Mobility Days” on various continents in 2012. The series will be kicked off with the LANXESS China Mobility Day, themed ”sustainable technologies for China’s future” on September 6, 2012 in Hyatt on the Bund Shanghai, China.



New membrane elements for reverse osmosis

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS AG is offering five new types of Lewabrane membrane separation elements for reverse osmosis. With immediate effect HR (high rejection) types with membrane surface areas of 370 and 440 square feet and HF (high flow) types with membrane surface areas of 370, 400 and 440 square feet are available.

LANXESS sets its sights on Turkey's growing market

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS plans to expand further in the Turkish market. It takes one important step in this direction today by officially opening its new subsidiary in Istanbul. LANXESS Kimya Ticaret Ltd. Şti. will manage the company’s business in this growing market in the future. LANXESS generated record sales in Turkey in 2011 amounting to some EUR 125 million, nearly triple the amount achieved in 2009.



LANXESS builds new plant for high-tech plastics in Belgium

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is investing EUR 75 million in the construction of a new plant for high-tech plastics in Antwerp. The world-scale facility for polyamide plastics is designed for an annual capacity of 90,000 metric tons and scheduled to begin operation in the first quarter of 2014.



LANXESS investing in its French production site for tire rubbers

Specialty chemicals group LANXESS is investing in its production site for high-performance rubber in Port Jérôme, France. The Group plans to invest some EUR 30 million by 2015 to further enhance productivity and energy efficiency. LANXESS produces the high-performance rubbers neodymium-polybutadiene (Nd-PBR) and solution styrene-butadiene (SSBR) at the site. These rubber grades are used primarily for the production of “green tires”.



LANXESS starts up new nitrile butadiene rubber plant in China

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS has started up on schedule a nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) plant in Nantong, China, as part of its 50:50 joint venture with Taiwan’s TSRC Corporation. The two companies have jointly invested USD 50 million (approx. EUR 39 million) in the new plant, which has an initial annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons. Some 100 new jobs have been created through the investment.



LANXESS strengthens its butyl rubber site in Belgium

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is strengthening its butyl rubber plant in Zwijndrecht, Belgium. The company has significantly invested to expand the production capacity of the existing plant and to build two new pilot plants for the development of production technology for butyl rubber. LANXESS is one of the world’s largest producers of butyl rubber, which is mainly used in the production of tires. The biggest share of butyl rubber produced in Zwijndrecht is premium halobutyl rubber.



LANXESS continues on growth path

LANXESS has made a promising start to the business year 2012. The specialty chemicals company increased EBITDA pre exceptionals by nearly 15 percent year-on-year to EUR 369 million in the first quarter.



Innovative iron oxide for desulfurizing biogas

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has developed Bayoxide E 16, a highly effective synthetic iron oxide for reducing hydrogen sulfide in biogas that can be added directly to the fermentation reactor.



Peak performance in China

As a part of the ongoing program LANXESS Summiteers in China 2012 is ready to go. Thomas Bubendorfer, one of the world’s foremost solo climbers, arrived in Lhasa in the middle of April to make preparations for his ascent of the two most demanding unclimbed mountains in the north west of the World Roof Tibet. Both are located in Shogula mountain system in the Yangs Pa Can area with around 6,000 meters high. The expedition is in collaboration with the China Mountaineering Association (CMA).
