Lightweight construction solutions for green mobility

Intelligent lightweight construction solutions based on polyamides and polyesters will be one of the main areas of focus for LANXESS’ Semi-Crystalline Products business unit (SCP) at this year’s Chinaplas from April 18 to 21 in Shanghai, China. LANXESS sees enormous potential for polyamide composite sheet hybrid technology in concepts for Green Mobility, such as electric vehicles. Possible applications include engine bearings, door structures, pedals, front ends, and seat cross-members.



LANXESS to showcase new BioAdimide™ product line at the Chinaplas

LANXESS’ subsidiary Rhein Chemie is presenting its expertise of its new line of plastic additives at Chinaplas in Shanghai, China, from April 18 - 21, 2012. This innovative product line has been specifically formulated for bioplastics and is poised to widen the applications of poly lactic acid (PLA) plastic. It enables the production of renewable, bio-based polymers for durable applications with a lower environmental impact. BioAdimide™ additives are specially suited to improve the hydrolysis resistance of bio-based polyester, specifically polylactide (PLA), and to expand its range of applications.



Extensive range of colorants, flame retardants and additives for plastic applications

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS exhibited its range of organic dyes, plasticizer and flame retardants for plastic applications, including toys, food packaging, construction, electrical and automotive parts at the Chinaplas in Shanghai, China, from April 18 to 21, 2012.



LANXESS introduces new UP product line

The new UP (upholstery) product line from the LANXESS specialty chemicals company is just what many upholstery leather manufacturers have been looking for. Given the wide range of different surface appearances and touches required in this sector, finishes have to be both simple to formulate and easy to handle so that leather manufacturers can satisfy the individual wishes of each customer without the need for complicated procedures.



New on the market: RO Membrane elements from LANXESS

With immediate effect, specialty chemicals company LANXESS is offering Lewabrane membrane separation elements for reverse osmosis to complement its established Lewatit ion exchange resins. The former will be produced at the new production unit in Bitterfeld that went on stream last fall. Initially, customers will be able to buy two RO element types with different capacities that are based on polyamide thin-film composite membranes. Further, other RO element types will be added to the product range soon.



LANXESS subsidiary Perlon-Monofil to raise prices worldwide

Owing to continued steep rises in energy and raw material costs, from April 1, 2012, Perlon-Monofil GmbH is to raise its prices worldwide for synthetic monofilaments by at least EUR 0.20 per kilogram depending on the field of application and grade.



LANXESS on course for further growth after record earnings

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS continued on a path of growth in 2011, with record sales and earnings figures. Thanks to the Group's price-before-volume strategy, successful acquisitions and focus on the emerging markets, sales climbed by 23 percent to EUR 8,775 million. EBITDA pre exceptionals improved by 25 percent to EUR 1,146 million, exceeding EUR 1 billion for the first time. The EBITDA margin pre exceptionals came in at 13.1 percent, compared with 12.9 percent the year before. Net income rose disproportionately compared with sales and EBITDA pre exceptionals, improving by one third from the previous year to EUR 506 million.



LANXESS acquires U.S. bladder producer TCB

LANXESS is strengthening its position as a premium supplier to the tire industry. The specialty chemicals company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Rhein Chemie has acquired USA-based Tire Curing Bladders LLC (TCB) – a leading manufacturer of bladders for the tire industry. Financial details were not disclosed. The transaction will close with immediate effect.

Up for the next challenge

As a part of the ongoing program LANXESS Summiteers in China, five Chinese mountain climbers arrived in Italy on February 13 to join Thomas Bubendorfer, one of the world’s best known solo climbers, for an intensive training in Mont Blanc, which is known for its steep snow slopes, difficult ice faces and hanging glaciers.



LANXESS increases price level for Chloroprene Rubber

LANXESS announces a price increase for its Baypren branded Chloroprene business line of up to EUR 180 EUR / 240 USD per metric ton on a global basis. Reason being the since early 2012 again increasing raw material and energy prices amidst a tightening market for the respective feedstocks. Subject to the terms of any applicable contracts and regulations, price increases will be implemented starting February 15th, 2012.



LANXESS places bond in Hong Kong

German specialty chemicals company LANXESS has successfully placed a Chinese offshore Renminbi (CNH) denominated bond in Hong Kong as part of its existing Debt Issuance Program. LANXESS is the first German chemicals company to issue a RMB denominated bond.

LANXESS expands Jhagadia site to serve booming Indian market

LANXESS is continuing to expand its Indian production site in Jhagadia, Gujarat state. The specialty chemicals group inaugurates three new plants this month to serve the growing India market. LANXESS has invested over EUR 70 million and created roughly 300 new jobs at the site.



LANXESS to build plant in Lipezk in Russia

The German specialty chemicals group LANXESS is focusing on the megatrend of mobility on the Russian market too. At its new site in Lipezk, LANXESS subsidiary Rhein Chemie will produce rubber additives and release agents for the Russian and CIS markets, especially for the automotive and tire industries. Construction of the new production plant is due to start in early 2012, with the launch of production scheduled for the first half of 2013. In 2016, a production facility for bladders used in tire production is to be added. Total investment will amount to around EUR 5 million, creating 40 new jobs in the medium term.
