Partnership with Qingdao University of Science and Technology

In collaboration with the prestigious Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST), LANXESS launched a Rubber Excellence Partnership in 2009 to support outstanding Chinese students in polymer and rubber science, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to China and the development of its rubber industry.

Through this program, students at QUST receive lectures and mentoring from professors with the German Institute of Rubber Technology. The institute is one of the world’s leading rubber R&D centers with a track record of successful collaboration with universities.

The top two students from within the program are selected for a customized four-week internship in Germany. They can gain not only the precious working experience at the world’s largest and one of the most innovative manufacturers of synthetic rubber, but also the good knowledge of LANXESS’ culture and technology.

In 2011, LANXESS further strengthened its partnership with QUST to join forces in research activities. LANXESS Butyl Rubber business unit has signed an agreement with the Shandong based university to conduct joint research activities that allows a group of QUST researchers to work hand in hand with LANXESS research and development teams.

Both sides work on a butyl rubber compounding and analysis project. The scope of this research project will include the structure-property analysis of vulcanized butyl rubber and its blends via mechanical, rheological and microscopy analysis.
