“Hong Kong Cycle” – Cycling for clean water

In 2011, LANXESS supported “Hong Kong Cycle” project of Jon Lee and Micheil Gordon, who completed an epic bike journey from Newbury, UK to Hong Kong, China. The grand journey, which lasted 10 months and covered 17,000 km, was in support of a good cause: to raise funds for the international NGO WaterAid, whilst at the same time increasing awareness of an important environmental issue.

These two Environmental Science graduates from UK have raised a total amount of some £18,520 (CNY 185,200) along their exciting trek.

The initiative was made possible through the support and sponsoring of LANXESS. By the start LANXESS made a donation of £ 10,000 (CNY 100,000) to WaterAid. The company also sponsored the equipment of both cyclists.

With its innovative products LANXESS actively helps to solve the world's water problems. LANXESS develops and manufactures products to remove impurities from drinking water and make it palatable again. On top of that, seals for water pipes made from LANXESS special-purpose rubber make sure that not a single drop of the valuable resource is wasted on its way to the consumer.
