HBCD To Phase Out in the Chinese Market

Emerald Innovation TM 3000 is a sustainable and superior alternative

The traditionally used flame retardant HBCD (hexabromocyclodododecane) is listed in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and may no longer be used in China from December 25, 2021.

To support you for a smooth transition to HBCD-free materials, LANXESS is happy to provide our know-how on Emerald Innovation™ 3000 (EI 3000), which is a highly efficient, sustainable flame retardant solution for extruded (XPS) and expanded (EPS) polystyrene insulating materials used in the construction industry.

Furthermore we have gained technical application knowledge for the adjustment of the processing conditions from HBCD to EI 3000. The Beijing Technology and Business University, FUDATEC and LANXESS generate knowledge across the entire XPS manufacturing chain, from flame retardant masterbatch production to the processing of insulation foams.
