Launched in 2015 by the German Chamber of Commerce in China | Shanghai and Bertelsmann Stiftung with strong support from the German Consulate General in Shanghai, the initiative was set up to further strengthen the good standing of German business in China by growing stronger roots in society and creating deeper relationships and partnerships between German and Chinese organizations and people.

Clean Water for Better Life

The first "Clean Water for Better Life" competition was kicked off in 2015 when China released "Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution" and the effective year of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" of United Nations.

Based on reality and exploit the advantages of young people. LANXESS "Clean Water for Better Life" project sponsored college students to carry out water research, sent experts of BU LPT(Liquid Purification Technologies) to provide technical guidance on all student projects and organize experts on environmental protection and water treatment to evaluate the project results. In the process of participation, young students practiced creative thinking, exchanged ideas and had the opportunity to receive guidance from senior experts and feedback to improve their capability to protect water resources in the future.

Strengthen multilectal cooperation and help solve social problems. The project opened a multi-party cooperation model between enterprises, universities and public associations. In addition to the technical guidance from the internal experts, LANXESS invited external senior experts to participate in the project evaluation process. The project provides an effective new solution for multi-party cooperation in the field of water resources protection. A large number of innovative solutions have emerged in the research competition. The project plays a catalytic role in technological progress, policy development and the increase of social awareness.

Water shortage is a long-term challenge facing China. In June 2017, the third "Clean Water for Better Life" competition was launched as schedule. This year, LANXESS will also jointly develop a white book on water conservation, and put forward specific measures for the study of water resources and in-depth protection. Part of the student research results will be included as cases in the white book. Over the next years, LANXESS will continue to expand its network of partners to address water challenges together.
